I have never had a flower bed before. I had some house plants when I was 20, but let's just say I'm a fair bit past 20 now. About a year ago, a neighbor in our small town brought over a load of castle blocks. About 6 weeks ago, my dear husband and one of my sons set them up to make a flower bed. The rusty gate is just for appearance. I have planted a flowering vine on each side of the gate. The vine on the right is really taking off. I can hardly wait until they start flowering!
I really like the size of this bed. It is small, about 4' x 1.5'. Our Lord has put many responsibilities on me during this season of life. My family is caring for my bedridden mother, which requires a great deal of physical and emotional energy. My flower garden is about 25 yards from my front door, so I can pop outside for just a couple minutes to take in the beauty of the flowers. I enjoy sitting on the edge of the blocks, tend to the flowers, and get back inside. It is a wonderful little break. Because of my mother, I am rarely able to leave the house. With it's small size, I am still able to be a good steward of what the Lord has called me to. These flowers are a gift.
Don't ever feel you don't have time to have a garden. If I can have a garden, so can you!
